I moved to Dubai 8 months ago to pursue a new career knowing nothing about the culture, community or vegan options of the United Arab Emirates. Due to my lack of research (I moved spontaneously over a Facebook ad) I didn’t know what to expect. Will there be vegan food? Do vegans live in Dubai? Are vegans accepted in Dubai? The list goes on…Since this time I have eaten my way through this city from the comfort of my own couch during lazy attempts at dinner while jet-lagged. I have been to vegan meet ups for brunches and chatted over asian buffets and vegan cookies with people whom have now become great friends. I have dived deep on the web to see a wave of support from popular news sites and media bringing veganism to mainstream. For these reasons and so much more I have found myself feeling so welcomed and respected over the last few months from the vegan community and throughout. To answer my questions, Dubai is pretty damn amazing for vegans. Scroll through this list and let me show you why! Enjoy x

Bloom Vegan Kitchen
If there was a competition for the highest amount of orders of Bloom per month from a single customer, I’d be the champion. (21 ORDERS IN 3.5 MONTHS) Seriously. Someone cancel my Talabat account. Anyways, Bloom is a 100% vegan takeaway brand exclusively online which is why I love them. They serve mostly healthy food that’s also unique and flavorful. Think; breakfast burritos, burgers, pizza, soups, power bowls and decadent desserts. Some of the desserts may look familiar as Bloom is owned by the company ‘Shakespeare and Co’. I felt like Shane Dawson on a conspiracy episode when I noticed this… and then felt like a lazy human being when I realized my deliveries were coming from a store that was right beside my home HAHA. Oh well, such is life. Bloom has teased online that one day they hope to have their own store soon, which would be amazing as it would probably increase their menu selection and allow folks that aren’t in the delivery area to try their amazing food. Fingers crossed!

Bounty Beets are a hip Insta worthy cafe in the Marina with a big bear mascot and pretty pink walls. The cafe is decorated like Barbies dream house on the inside and a Balinese oasis outdoors. I must admit it looks pretty cool. Though I have never been, a quick browse on their website pulled up a plant based menu that sounded delicious. Plant based tacos, burgers and a homemade vegan magnum.. enough said. I haven’t visited just yet myself, but that homemade magnum is calling me!

The Cheesecake Factory
Despite the name The Cheesecake Factory does have some options you just have to VEGANIZE them. Despite the ‘vegan cobb salad’, fries, edamame, vegetable side dishes and most beverages you’ll need to specifically request that the items are prepared vegan specifically. From discussing with their kind servers, I can list that their veganisable options include avocado toast, Evelyn’s favourite pasta, cauliflower pieces and superfood salads. This involves requesting to remove all animal products such as cheese, dairy, pesto, mayonnaise and salmon etc. Please be advised that you must be very specific about these instructions when delivering from online apps. I would say for this reason The Cheesecake Factory is a better visit in person. You’ll get to be specific on your dietary requirements and watch cute kids in snow costumes from the window that connects to ski Dubai. WIN-WIN.
